Pet ID Tags - ReturnMoi, Microchip, and GPS!

have you ever heard about Returnmoi pet tags? www.returnmoi.com/pets
Dear Julie,
I have never heared about these types of tags until todays. I researched the website as thoroughly as I groom my self everyday. I finded out that these tags are not a bad price (about $8 for a 2-years service.) However, I am not sure they are that usefuls. Our pet taggies are about $2 each and says our Mommy's number and address on thems. We hope if we get lost those tags will work the same way. The positives of ReturnMoi I thinked is that it says "75% of items returned" but that includes stuff with no tag too. As long as you have a tag we thinked you could get returned. Also, there is a prize included for someone who returns the pet. This prize is a good idea but it is not so great. The other positive is that it is anonymous. Howevar, for a pet, I thinked the person who finded you would still have to come take you to the persons whose house it is. You can't really mail a kitteh in the mails, that is silly. So it will not be anonymous.
One better solution for an extra-safe ID is a microchip. This is added safety because if you loses your collar and the pet shelters finds you, they can scan you and find out stuff about your identifications (since Kittehs can't easily carry wallets around with IDs!). Here is some information about microchips. Some literatures has said these might cause increase of risks of cancer but those risks are pretty slim and in rats. A place you can get a microchip is at Home Again.
They also have got GPS pet locators. These are much more expensives but are extremely reliables at finding your pet, as long as the collar does not disappear. Here is an example of a GPS pet locator by PetSafe. However this will be about $35 for the collar-ID and $200-$300 for the handheld GPS. Perhaps one can buys a program to use with an existing car-GPS and it would be cheapers. This is an option for kitties whose beans are very rich!!!

Veronica

dear veronica -you are the smartest kitty i know so i want to ask you a question. why won't my mommy let me have tuna from a can all the time and everyday? i love to eat it because it tastes so delicious and it smells so good. the spring water from the can is also very yummy to drink. when she puts the can away, i get sad, meow for just a little more, and put on my sad face but mommy says too much won't be good for me. why? why? why?i try to thank mommy for the tuna after i eat it so i give her kisses. i don't have lips like humans so i lick mommy's face with my tongue and she say my breath stinks. how can this be true? - BFF,hello
Dear Hello,
First I just want to make the point out, that I love tuna very much also. But there are a few reasons why tuna all the time is not good for kitties. I think there are three reasons. The first one you already are exhibiting!!! Kitties who eat a lot of tuna, might stop liking other foods! You can become addicted to just fishes. Even though fishes are our favorite. It is good to have the variety in your diet. In fact it is extremely importants. Second, there is a lot of sodium in tuna. For example in one can there is 25% of daily recommended dosage for HUMANS of sodium (I did the check on the can.) That is not good for kitties! A little bit is okay, but not so much like a whole can. Third, there is the problem about mercury. The albacore tuna, for example, is the predatory of fishes and that means it eats other fishes and gets more and more mercury in its meat. Now, according to FDA guidelines for young human children, no more than 6 ounces per week is alloweds. If we are even 1/3 the size of childrens, that means we can have only 1 can per week! But I suspect we are littler than that so you see we cannot have so many cans of tunas. I got the FDA guidelines from Wikipedia.
As for giving your mommy kisses - that is very nice for you. I am glad you love your mommy. But next time you should wait until a little while after you eat the tuna since tuna is verrry smelly. My suggestion is, if you brush your teeth it is a good time to have your mommy brush them after eating tuna. The other option is to try Petrodex Dental Treats. They are healthy and freshenize your breaths!

Dear Figaro,
You are a silly kitty. I will explain the everything. It is the simple of explanations. When you eat too much food, you throw up! Even if you beg for the food and act like you are hungry, then Mamaw gives you food because she feels sorry for you. But you are not really hungry! Then you throw up on everything. This is bad for you. Throwing up is not fun, and it is not fun for us to clean up after you, either! So please don't beg for so much food, and just eat like a normal kitty.
Love,
Veronica
